Artificial Intelligence
By Jon Zajac

As someone who is passionate about artificial intelligence (AI), I love incorporating AI-themed “This or That” icebreaker questions into events as a fun and engaging way to get people talking and learning about the technology. Here are some tips on how you can do this too:

Intro

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is one of the most transformative technologies of our time, with applications in many industries from healthcare to entertainment. By incorporating AI-themed icebreaker questions into your event, you can help attendees learn about and discuss the impact of AI on society while also having fun and getting to know each other better.

How to incorporate Artificial Intelligence themed This or That questions

To incorporate AI-themed “This or That” questions into your event, follow these steps:

  1. Prepare a list of questions beforehand that are related to AI and its applications, benefits, challenges, and ethical considerations. You can find inspiration from reading news articles, research papers, or social media discussions about AI.

  2. Print out the questions on cards or display them on a screen or a poster board. Encourage your guests to form small groups of 3-5 people and take turns asking each other the questions. You can also create a rotation system where each group moves on to the next question after a set amount of time (e.g., 2-3 minutes).

  3. Make sure everyone has a chance to answer each question and listen actively to their responses. Encourage follow-up questions, comments, and discussions that build on the initial answers. You can also share your own insights and opinions about AI to keep the conversation flowing.

  4. After everyone has had a chance to answer all the questions, gather your guests in a larger group and ask them to share their favorite or most surprising answers. You can also use this opportunity to highlight any commonalities or connections that emerged during the activity.

  5. Consider using some of the insights or stories that came up during the “This or That” icebreaker as a springboard for further conversations and activities throughout the day. For example, you could organize a panel discussion about AI ethics or showcase AI-powered demos from local startups.

Ideas on different themes of questions

To keep your AI-themed icebreaker questions fresh and engaging, you can explore different themes and categories that are relevant to the technology. Here are some ideas:

  • Applications: Ask questions about how AI is being used in various industries and sectors (e.g., “What do you think is the most promising application of AI in healthcare?” or “Which industry do you think will be disrupted the most by AI in the next 5 years?”).

  • Benefits: Ask questions about the potential benefits of AI for individuals, organizations, and society (e.g., “How can AI help us make better decisions?” or “What are some ways that AI can improve our daily lives?”).

  • Challenges: Ask questions about the technical, social, and ethical challenges of AI (e.g., “What are some of the biggest obstacles to widespread AI adoption?” or “How can we ensure that AI is used responsibly and ethically?”).

  • Ethics: Ask questions that explore the ethical implications of AI (e.g., “Should AI be programmed to prioritize human values?” or “What are the potential risks and benefits of using AI in criminal justice?”).

  • Future: Ask questions about the long-term impact of AI on society and humanity (e.g., “Will AI create more jobs than it eliminates?” or “What do you think the world will look like in 2050 with advanced AI technologies?”).

By incorporating these different themes of questions into your AI-themed icebreaker activity, you can keep your guests engaged and entertained while also fostering a sense of curiosity and learning about this exciting technology. So why not give it a try and see how it can enhance your next event!
