What is Did You Know? Bingo?

Human Bingo, also known as the Autograph Game or Did You Know? Bingo, is a fun and engaging icebreaker activity that helps people learn interesting facts about each other. The purpose of this game is to encourage mingling and interaction among a large or extra-large group of people, with the goal of obtaining signatures from others who match the facts listed on a bingo-style sheet.

In Human Bingo, participants walk around the room and talk to different individuals until they find someone who fits the description in one of the boxes on their bingo sheet. Once they find a matching person, that individual signs the corresponding box, allowing the participant to get to know them better. The first person to obtain five signatures in a row (horizontally, vertically, or diagonally) shouts “Bingo!” and wins the game.

This icebreaker is an excellent way for participants to learn humorous or unique facts about each other while promoting social interaction and breaking the ice. To play Human Bingo, you need printed bingo sheets with interesting facts and pens for signing. The recommended group size is 25 people or more, and the game can be played both indoors and outdoors, making it a versatile option for various settings.

By incorporating Human Bingo into your next gathering, workshop, or event, you can create an enjoyable atmosphere that fosters connection, communication, and camaraderie among participants. This engaging icebreaker is suitable for ages 12 and up, ensuring that people of all ages can participate and have fun.

This versatility ensures that everyone, regardless of age or background, will find something engaging on their card, making it a more inclusive experience for all involved.

Tips for making Did You Know? Bingo more inclusive

  • Tip: When creating the bingo sheet, make sure to include a diverse range of facts that represent different backgrounds, experiences, and abilities. This can include things like “has experience with a different ability” or “speaks a language other than English at home.”
  • Tip: Consider adding a blank row on the bingo sheet for participants to fill in their own unique fact about themselves. This encourages self-expression and allows for more diverse representation.
  • Tip: Make sure to create a safe and welcoming environment by reminding participants to respect one another’s identities and experiences, and to avoid making assumptions or asking invasive questions.
  • Tip: Provide alternative ways for participants to participate in the game, such as allowing them to use a symbol or sticker instead of a signature if they prefer not to share their name.
  • Tip: Consider offering accommodations for participants who may have difficulty moving around the room or interacting with others due to physical, sensory, or social-communication differences. This can include providing seating options or allowing for virtual participation.
  • Tip: Encourage participants to listen actively and show genuine interest in one another’s facts, and to avoid interrupting or dismissing their experiences.
